Jemila is roasting coffee beans, what a treat!!!
Guests: Jemila Xaleh all the way from Eritrea, and Warren and Jane Dyke.
Bob Meyer called the meeting to order and Susan read the minutes of the December 11 meeting. Somebody said they were too long.
Treasurer’s Report: Dues collected in December totaled $50.00. The treasury has a balance of $86.55 after reimbursing Bob and Shirley for the Christmas ham.
Many thanks to our hosts Joe and Jutta Fitzsimmons for their hospitality. Thanks also to Jamila for the absolutely delicious coffee. It was a real treat watching her roast the coffee beans and make the coffee for us.
While minutes were being read (when Susan got to the part about the traditional song), Dorothy interjected that she heard the recording of the 12 days of Christmas we sang and we should leave the dues at $10 and invest in singing lessons.
The treasurer’s report triggered some members to offer dues. High finance and confusion on the status of various members’ dues held the secretary’s attention for a while. Some folks actually wanted to pay double the dues amount!! (Thanks, but let’s wait to see if that is what is needed.)
Our president brought up the only thing on the agenda - future meetings – starting with March. He asked if there are any takers?? The question quickly turned to one about whether anyone will be around! It seems that people will be out of town at one time or another for the entire month of March!!
Sometime in the middle of this discussion, Dick brought up Derby Day. He raised the question of issues associated with a conflict with Clarkson graduation. General consensus is that the club will probably want to do Derby Day even if some people can’t make it. Decision: We will postpone discussion of Derby Day until we have more info about May.
Back to the discussion of March – looks like a lot of people will be gone in March. What about late February or early April. Some disorganized conversation happened, with no real consensus. No real enthusiasm for March or April or even late February.
Another decision: No meeting until May. President will check on the dates and times of commencement, etc. and work things out. Sue and Bob Northrup volunteered for Derby Day! Will coordinate time and details with the Northrups later. May 7 at 4:30 PM?
Post meeting information: Clarkson graduation is indeed on the same day as the Kentucky Derby. Graduation starts at 2:30 and if past history is any indication it lasts about 3 hours (ending around 5:30). Post time for the Kentucky Derby is 6:15. It looks like a go!!
Beyond May, Parch volunteered to do the lamb roast in the summer. Club says we like Dick’s lamb roast.
Conversation turned to other issues.
Web access difficulties were mentioned. It is important -- when you go to click on the host’s name, remember the password. Dave says that if you forget, look at the web page directly above the box to enter the password and you will see the password in the title.
Information on Petite Rouge: We have for many years going up to Petite Rouge in Quebec. Bob described the location and environment and the rates for folks who might be interested in the future. We’re full for this year!
No more business, so we are adjourned.
